Effortless, romantic and chic are the best words to describe this seasons garden glam trend. This look is inspired by the classic s/s floral prints we love in combination with  edgier pieces that provided the perfect balance and contrast. This year’s garden glam style is all about taking romantic and vivid spring time prints and pairing them with unique and unexpected pieces.

At the Spring 2013 Paul & Joe runway show we saw bold floral jumpers paired with structured white blazers, as well as,  bright red floral trousers paired with monochrome checkered belts, these outfits are both prime examples of blending the garden style with a touch of modern sophistication. The garden glam look was also going strong at the Just Cavalli show where watercolor floral print dresses and bright white accessories made for a refreshingly Springy combination.  A variation of the garden glam trend that we found surprisingly appealing was Moschino’s combination of bold floral prints and classic 60’s mod silhouettes, to create a very unique and chic look.

In addition to being a runway favorite this season, the garden glam style was very popular with some of our favorite celebrity style icons, both on and off the red carpet. This fabulously fun trend made a splash at Coachella on ladies like Solange Knowles and Katy Perry , in fact, mama-to-be Kim Kardashian opted for garden chic attire for her upcoming baby shower. We can’t wait to see how the celebs are going to rock their version’s of the garden glam trend.

Try The Trend Tips

  • Just because the theme of this trend is garden doesn’t mean it has to be subtle and delicate, go ahead and go for bright bold colors and big statement prints.  In addition to bright colors, dark floral prints like crimson roses or rich brown tinted sunflowers (à la the Naeem Khan S/S ’13 show)  go a long way to adding some drama to this look.
  • In terms of garden chic accessories we suggest being a little playful, a flower statement ring or flower hued pair of chunky heels would both be excellent additions to a garden chic ensemble.
  • As far as your makeup is concerned think effortless beauty and go for a fresh faced look accented with subtle floral hues like a peony pink pout or a light lavender eye shadow.
