Tulips look fantastic both in a vase and around your waist this season, the floral inspired silhouette known as the tulips skirt is totally hot right now. Celebrity fashion icons like Blake Lively, Zoe Saldana, Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Bosworth and Emma Roberts have all recently stepped out onto the red carpet in the ultra-flattering tulip skirt trend. Draped wrap skirts, like the tulips skirt, have a beautiful Grecian goddess sensibility that we just adore, and we’re not the only ones.

Both the S/S 2013 and the Fall RTW runways were speckled with fun fresh tulip skirts. At the Fall 2013 RTW show of Vera Wang we saw structural and elegant tulip skirts and dress, whereas at the Jil Sander’s show we saw a much lighter colored, more spring-ish version of the trend. There are plenty of different ways to rock the tulip skirt trend this season, but we’ve noticed to main methods:

Flirty and Ladylike
Weddings, bridal/baby showers  and afternoon lunches are all occasions for which the ladylike tulips skirt look is perfectly suited. Go ahead and go for pastel hues, floral prints and sheer wispy fabrics if you want to rock your tulips skirt the feminine and flirty way. To accent your sweet look even more opt for chic, delicate ankle strap heels and a petal pink pout.

Edgy and Bold
Due to the tulip skirt’s  wispy draping and cutesy name the trend easily lends itself to an ultra-girl style, why not challenge that and take your tulip skirt over to the “dark side”, if you will.  To perfectly blend your feminine skirt with a more modern edgy style pair your skirt with a studded belt, sexy black ankle boots or even a rocker chic lightweight leather top.  Anything that creates a chic contrast between the über feminine tulip silhouette and an edgier sensibility will work fine for this look.
