Turtleneck sweaters are a fall/winter fashion staple, unfortunately they often get a bad rap for being too conservative and drab. Well this year that’s all about to change, turtlenecks are becoming chic and bold. At the Rag & Bone fall/winter show we saw sexy turtlenecks accented with everything from belts to fur. Celebrities like songstress Gwen Stefani and Princess Kate Middleton have been seen sporting turtlenecks recently, as the fall weather starts to put a chill in the air.  The problem most ladies have with turtlenecks is that they are cut very conservatively and can drown you in the fabric. But the key to rocking a turtle neck is to put a modern spin on this old cold weather classic.

Believe it or not, you can rock a turtleneck to a party and still look sexy. Pair a turtleneck mini dress with fun leggings, for a cute and sexy cold weather outfit. This outfit is sure to keep you warm on account of the turtleneck and leggings, however you’ll still be looking seductive and sexy because your legs are highlighted and the turtleneck helps to elongate the look of your torso. For the office why not pair a forest green turtleneck with a blush rose blazer. The green pink color combo is great for the wintertime and you’ll get the layered effect without having to actually do much layering.

Try The Trend Tips

Ready to stay warm, cozy and chic in a turtleneck this winter, we hope so! Here are a few tips to help you avoid a turtleneck fashion flop.

Don’t go for a turtleneck that’s super tight around the neck. If your sweater is too tight in that area it may make your neck look wider and larger than it is, or it may make it look awkwardly long.

For a bold take on this trend we recommend pairing a bright turtleneck underneath a leather trench coat. There is defiantly nothing boring or drab about this look.
