We all know by now that there are many different face shapes and applying makeup is different for everyone. Applying contour is the one of the trickiest of all but did you know that blush has to be applied to conform to certain face shapes as well? It’s generally understood that it should be worn on the apples of the cheeks but that doesn’t apply to everyone. Find out where you should be applying blush for your face shape.

Oval or long. For longer faces, the blush needs to give a more widened effect to the face so apply blush outwards. Start at the apples of the cheeks and brush outwards so that whoever looks at you will be more concentrated on how wide your face is instead of how long.

Round. For rounder face shapes, apply blush in curved motion that starts underneath the cheekbone and goes up. Round face shapes need more dimension and creating higher cheekbones with blush does just that.

Square. Apply blush to the top of the cheekbones in an arch motion and bit on the temples as well. This will give the illusion of a more lifted face and will narrow the forehead because of where the blush was placed. The blush on the temple also shortens the space between your cheekbones and forhead.

Heart. For heart-shaped faces, applying blush on the cheekbones is the way to go. Make sure your blending it up and back to obtain perfectly heightened cheekbones. Heart-shaped faces tend to have thinner or pointier chins and by doing this you balance it out.
