Kimora Lee Simmons’ daughters revive clothing brand from early 2000s

90’s trends have been resurging for years now, and 2019 has seen the inkling of some signature trends from the turn of the century making their way back into daily wear. From the rise of matching workout sets (it’s totally the 2019 version of the Juicy tracksuit) to nameplate necklaces, chunky sneakers, and puffer jackets… heck, even low-rise jeans are trickling their way back into designers’ sketches. No brand truly defined the early 2000’s quite like Baby Phat—the brand that basically invented modern-day streetwear and made athleisure an acceptable clothing choice outside of workout classes—and now the iconic brand is back and better than ever.

Under the creative direction of founder Kimora Lee Simmons Leissner and her two daughters, Aoki (17) and Ming (19), the infamous velour sweatsuits, logo tanks tops, and killer accessories can soon be ours once again. And judging by the ads hyping up the re-launched brand, featuring Aoki and Ming throughout, we’re in for some sassy dresses, bodysuits, over-the-knee boots and so much more. And all with that classic early 2000’s look made popular by celebrities like Brittney Spears and Lindsay Lohan, who were both huge fans of the brand.

Since Kimmora left the brand, social media, influencers, and the rise of online shopping have drastically shifted the way designers must build their business. I am SO here for a Bella Hadid Baby Phat collab, or to see Emily Ratajkowski in a velour tracksuit. 2020, it’s time to go back in time!
