Bob Mackie recognized for his fashion talent

Cher has always seemed to be a fashion icon whose looks were so dramatic, so powerful that they exist in a league all of their own, and no other celebrity ever seems to come close. From her fashion in the days of Sonny and Cher to her looks created by legendary designer Bob Mackie, anything she wears is sure to turn heads.

Cher’s career has spanned six decades, and Bob Mackie has been designing for her since the 1960s. She met him when Sonny and Cher was guest starring on “The Carol Burnett Show.” Mackie was the costume designer, met Cher, and the rest is history.

Mackie was Cher’s designer of choice on “The Cher Show,” a musical that “tells the story of the early life and career of Cher.” It was recently announced that he was named a Tony Award nominee for his work on this Broadway show, and it was well-deserved.

When The Tony Awards happened on June 9th, Bob Mackie took home the big win. Cher’s support for him was as over the top as the incredible sequin gowns he designed especially for her.
