Getting that perfect winged liner can be difficult especially if your hand isn’t the steadiest. You start off with a nice thin line across the lid and an ok flick but somewhere along the line you mess up the flick and it becomes increasingly thick and doesn’t match the other. It takes forever to create and even longer to master— who has time for that?

Because creating the perfect winged liner can be tedious and pretty difficult, here are a few things you can use to help you get that perfect flick.

scotch-tapeScotch tape. If you watch as many YouTube tutorials as the girls around here, you’re familiar with the old scotch tape trick. If not, cut off a piece of tape, stick it to the top of your hand to make it less sticky, and apply to the outer corner of your eye. It makes it easy and it’s disposable.

A credit card. Or debit. Or just whatever card you have. The perfect straight lines that make a card are perfect for creating the wing or flick. It’s also pretty sturdy so you don’t have to worry about it bending when your press down on it.

A spoon. Use a clean spoon to create your line. You can even use the rounded part to create the curve on the inside part of the flick.

A chopstick. It’s all about anything that is stick straight (get it?) and if your takeout guy or girl gave you an extra pair with your sushi order, don’t throw them out. Chopsticks are extra straight so they make a perfect tool for the perfect winged liner look. Just make sure there are no splinters as you can hurt your eyes.
