‘Tis the season to be jolly not only in spirit but also in skincare. This time of the year usually calls for dry skin due to harsh, cold weather conditions so your skin needs extra pampering. A good body scrub will buff those dead skin cells off to reveal smoother and healthier skin.

Treat your skin to this lovely minty body scrub by just grabbing a few items from your pantry.

What you’ll need:

-1 Mason jar
-2 cups of granulated sugar
-1/3 of a cup of almond oil (coconut, jojoba, and olive oils work just as well)
-Peppermint oil
-Red food coloring (for a natural substitute, use cherry or raspberry juice)

Now follow these steps:

Step 1. In a bowl, combine the sugar, almond oil, and a few drops of peppermint oil. You can add as much peppermint oil as you like.

Step 2. Split the mixture in half and transfer half of it on to another bowl. When you’ve done that, add a drop of red food coloring to one of the bowls. If you want to intensify the color, add a drop at a time as the color can make the color look too intense.

Step 3. Now take your Mason jar and add a layer of the red sugar mixture. Ideally we want 5 layers so divide the red mixture in to 3 parts and the white just in half. Be sure to flatten out the surface after you finish each layer for a neater appearance.

Step 4. Add the rest of the layers by alternating colors and sealing it well after you finish.

Step 5. To add a little something extra, wrap a white and red ribbon around the top and create a bow. Hang a small candy cane from the ribbon and you can now use it as a gift.
