We recently showed you a great tutorial on how to make your own scented organic body butter that’s pretty easy to make and is super moisturizing. What’s great about it is you can tailor it to smell exactly how you want with essential oils and because you made, you know exactly what goes into it. Now, if there was only a way to make it the ultimate moisturizer…

Well, there is: putting some SPF in it. If you tried out the DIY body butter and want it to protect your skin from the sun as well, add an extra ingredient to it with this quick tutorial.

What you’ll need:

Your body butter
A tbsp. of Non-Nano Zinc Oxide (physical sunscreen)

Now for the steps:

Step 1: Place some water in a pot and boil some water. Once the water boils, turn it off.

Step 2: Melt the body butter completely by putting it in a glass bowl or measuring cup.

Step 3: Add the zinc oxide and mix well. This will give you around an SPF 20.

Step 4: Pour into a container and let set.
