Start with the right brush. There are a few different eyeliner brushes out there but to get a perfect line each and every time, the angled brush does the best job. It’s more precise than the thin pointed kind as the latter tends to bend and isn’t completely straight as it has more volume.

Use powder first. The best thing you can do if you’re not a pro at getting the perfect liner from the get-go is by using eye shadow powder first. It’s a way of tracing out where you want your liner to go without committing to it because it’s easy to remove. Use a brown color instead of black for easier removal.

Eyeliner pens for beginners. When you’re starting off, using an eyeliner pen is best because there’s more control with the hand and there’s always the same amount of product being applied. With gel, it can get a little messy because you only have one shot at getting it right and if it dries too quickly, it’s going to take extra effort to getting off of your lid. Stick to pens for easier and a less messy application.
