A lot of people have a go-to part in their hair and tend to stick with it for a while. Some stay with that one look because it just naturally parts that way while others do it because they’re not sure anything else can be done. Changing your hair part can make a world of a difference for your face so if you’ve been stuck with the same part for a while, now is the time to change that.

If you’ve been curious about how a deep-sided part would look on your lovely face, try out this simple tutorial.

What you’ll need:

A blow-dryer
A tail comb
A wide paddle brush
Hairspray
A bit of mild gel or mousse
An elastic band
A bobby pin

Now follow these steps:

Step 1. If you don’t have straight hair, straighten it first. Then, create a deep-sided part with your tail comb. It should be lined up with the arch of your eyebrow so use it as a guide. Find the side that feels the most comfortable and gives you the most volume.

Step 2. Once you’ve found your part, apply a bit of gel or mousse to the top of the hair and comb it down using your blow-dryer. The blow-dryer will help create a straight, sleek look while keeping it in place with the gel or mousse.

Step 3. Comb the hair down again with the tail comb to make the ponytail extra sleek. If you choose to make a low ponytail, place it about 2-3 fingers above the hair root at the bottom of your head. You can choose a higher ponytail if you like so play around with it until you find the best spot. Secure with an elastic hairband.

Step 4. To hide the elastic, take a piece of hair from the under the ponytail and wrap it around the elastic and secure it with a bobby pin.

Step 5. To tame any flyaways, spray some hairspray in to your paddle brush and brush that hair down. This will help with preventing the hair from looking too stiff.
