Denim is one of this season’s biggest trends and could be seen on the runways of designers like Anna Sui, Saint Laurent, Gucci, etc. in every way, shape, or form. Whether it’s jeans, matching separates, or dresses, denim is strong this spring and summer and we’re all about it.

Wearing a denim dress gives off a slightly 70’s vibe but it’s really all about how you style it. Here are a few outfit ideas if you’re trying to figure out how to wear a denim dress.

denimdress1Go casual with gladiator sandals. Dressing up a denim dress doesn’t have to be complicated so don’t overthink it: go for some tan or light brown gladiator sandals. Denim pairs well with tan colors (a la Michael Kors) and gladiator sandals are another big trend so you’re hitting two birds with one stone. Black also works well so don’t limit yourself, girl.

Try sporty chic. Another great casual way to wear this dress is by wearing some sneakers with it. Denim dresses seem like they can be a little dressy (despite the material) but bringing it down a notch with sneakers makes it great for every day wear. Go for plain white or black sneakers and accessorize with a backpack or cross body bag and you’re ready to go.

Dress it up with heels. Got an afternoon date that you want to wear your dress to? Or maybe happy hour at nice lounge? Dress up your denim with your favorite heels. Brown and tan look best but really, you can wear almost any color you want. Whether it’s black, ruby red, or emerald green, your shoes will act like an accessory since there’s a lot of blue and it’s welcomed. Just be sure to stay away from colors that are too bright like neons—not that you would do such a thing anyway.
