Plaid shirts are one of those grunge pieces that everybody can wear no matter what their personal style may be. It adds some edge as well as bit of darkness (coo darkness, of course) and can be incorporated into a outfit to look anywhere from chic all the way to the other end of the spectrum and look sporty. It’s a versatile piece that every girl should have in their closet for sure.

PlaidstreetTo incorporate a plaid shirt in your outfit, try out these 3 style tips:

All black everything with the shirt around your waist. If you’re a newbie to wearing a red plaid shirt, this look is a must try first. It’s easy, there isn’t much thought that goes into the look, and it’s incredibly comfortable if you combine the look with some sneakers. Just make sure you wrap the shirt around your waist correctly so you don’t look bulky in the back.

Tucked in with blue jeans. As a way of dressing up the shirt a bit, we love the idea of tucking the shirt into some dark blue jeans and wearing a black, red, or navy blue pump (it all depends on the colors that are on the plaid shirt). It gives the shirt a bit of a mature look while still keeping it interesting due to the colors you have going on top.

Paired with an A-line skirt. The A-line skirt gives it more of a feminine touch so it’s important to look at the stripes on the shirt to match the color of the skirt properly. Black is a no-brainer but if you really want push your style boundaries go for a white, ox blood, or dark blue. If you’re more of a style daredevil, go all out with plaid on plaid.
