This year has undoubtedly been the year of colorful hair. Nicole Richie went through lavender and shades of blue, Katy Perry green, Rihanna was seen with grey hair extensions, and the list goes on and on. Dying your hair a fun color can seem like a great idea until you realize how much work it can be and how damaging it is so doing it temporarliy is the next best thing.

If you want a temporary hair color change in pink (or really any other color), try out this simple DIY using a few things from your vanity.

What you’ll need:

Pink pigments (you can use whatever color you have or like)
Hairspray
A foundation brush
Hairdryer

Now follow these simple steps:

Step 1. Find out where you want the hair color first. If you just want a bit of color on the top of your hair, part your hair as you normally would and work with small sections.

Step 2. Once you’ve parted your hair, grab a small section of hair and spray it with your hairspray. This will act as a base so that the pigment sticks well.

Step 3. Dip your foundation brush in to the pigments and start to brush it on the hair that you’ve applied the spray to. After you’ve coated the whole section in pigments, spray it one more time and use the hairdryer to dry the pigment into the hair.

Step 4. Repeat step 2 and 3 on the rest of your hair.

You now have brightly colored hair without the commitment. To see a tutorial of how it’s done, check out the video!
