After much pressure KKW reconsiders renaming shapewear line

Kim Kardashian West in making fashion headlines once again. But this time, it’s not in the typical Keeping Up With The Kardashians news. This time it’s about her new brand of shapewear, Kimono.

Kim Kardashian, socialite, social media and TV star, and now fashion designer and businesswoman. Kim Kardashian created a new brand of shapewear, similar to Spanx, which was designed to bring inclusivity back to fashion.

Her new company, Kimono, was in pre-launch when the backlash over the company’s name came to light. It would seem, people are upset about the shapewear being named after a Japanese garment filled with traditional and deep spiritual meanings. The outrage was only further amplified after reports that Kim was trying to copyright Kimono and all variations of the word.

Kim affirms that she only had the best of intentions and that Kimono was meant to be more a “nod to the beauty and detail that goes into a garment.” She has since decided to change the name of the company stating, “I am always listening, learning and growing – I so appreciate the passion and varied perspectives that people bring to me.” There has yet to be an announcement of the new name.
