The Kimono Solutionwear Brand Is Under Fire

It seems no matter what Kim Kardashian West does, she can’t help but seem to get backlash for all of it. Even her celebrity sisters, like Kylie Jenner, seems to hear something negative from her business choices, like the recent upset over her new skincare line. And this time, Kim is being accused of cultural appropriation with the recent announcement of her shapewear line, Kimono.

It was only this week that Kim announced a project she has been passionate about for a claimed 15 years. Over the past year, she has worked hard to develop shapewear that provides more style options for shoppers, but more than that, it offers a wide range of sizes and shades, providing more options for women to find exactly what they are looking for.

But her announcement isn’t without its fair share of drama, like most things Kim does. Those a part of the Japanese culture are offended that Kim is using the name kimono, a much-respected piece in their culture, and applying it to what they are essentially thinking of like underwear.

Kim replied to the comments with this statement: “I understand and have a deep respect for the significance of the kimono in Japanese culture.”
