The smokey eye look is the one eye look that anybody can look good in when done the right way. It’s mostly suited for evening and night time events because it’s quite heavy but looks incredibly complex and sophisticated which is why it’s a go-to for many celebs especially on red carpet events. It’s most famously known to be Kim Kardashian’s everyday look and most of us usually associate her to a great smokey eye. If you want to create the perfect smokey eye with only a few simple steps, try out this tutorial.

Makeup products you’ll need:

1. Primer or MAC’s Paint Pot in Painterly (acts as primer AND champagne eye shadow)
2. Eyeshadows in champagne, taupe brown, and black
3. Eyeliner
4. Mascara
5. Brown pigment

Now follow these easy steps:

Step 1. Apply Painterly all over the lids. This will act as a primer and the base-colored champagne shadow. If you don’t have this product or something similar to it, apply your primer and then follow with the eye shadow all over your lids.

Step 2. With a fluffy blending brush, take the taupe brown color and run it through your eye socket. Be sure to blend it well so you see no hard edges. Also, take some of the same color and place it on the outer half of your lid. You can do so with a darker color but it’s not necessary.

Step 3. Take an eye shadow brush and pick up the black eye shadow and place that in the outer “v” of the eyelid. With another clean fluffy bush, blend out the shadow to create the smokey effect.

Step 4. Line your waterline with a black eyeliner and take a down a bit. It’s going to look messy at first but to create an even smokier effect, it needs to be smudged out. Do so with a smudge brush and bring it down as much as you’d like.

Step 5. Apply some of the shimmery brown pigment with your finger on the inner half of the lid. Do this for extra glam but you can skip it if you’re going for a muted matte look.

Step 6. Apply mascara. Falsies look great with this look because if you have small lashes, they can get lost in the dark colors so apply some if you’d like.
