Makeup brushes are just as important as makeup itself to mostly any woman out there. With the right brush, makeup can look seamless and reshape your entire face making you look like a totally different person. But why is it that more women aren’t taking better care of their brushes? Makeup brushes are great but can harbor bacteria if they aren’t cleaned every other day leading to breakouts on your face. See which makeup brush cleansers you should be using for your brushes at home.

Bobbi Brown Brush Cleanser, $16.50. Bobbi is a renown and respected makeup artist and her brush cleanser lives up to her name. This brush shampoo is effective at getting all of the makeup off leaving the brushes clean and looking like new. Although the bottle may not look very big, only the tiniest amount is needed to clean a brush collection.

Trish McEvoy Makeup Brush Cleaner Spray, $22. This brush cleanser is great for the times when you’re on the go or traveling and don’t have time to properly and thoroughly cleanse your brushes. Because it’s a spritz, it will only clean topically but will still get rid of the makeup and bacteria for more uses. It’s a bit more expensive than the average department store cleanser but it contains ingredients like lavender oil and aloe that make it a good buy.

Aveeno Baby Wash and Shampoo, $7. A favorite of the girls at ChicTrends is none other than baby shampoo. It’s incredibly gentle to brushes and cleanses thoroughly when soaked in warm water. The smell is delightful and lingers on the brushes as well as leaving them super soft. The best part is that it’s half of what most high-end cleansers cost and more accessible to all.
