To-Tommy-From-Zooey

“New Girl” star Zooey Deschanel has partnered up with Tommy Hilfiger to launch a capsule of 16 dresses. Of the 16 dresses, 14 are available now at Macy’s and the remaining two will be available on Tommy.com today.

The capsule is made up of mostly 60’s inspired dresses but still stays within the white, blue, and red palette that the Tommy Hilfiger line is notoriously known for. Zooey is known for her love of vintage clothing and even made her own clothing when she was younger by shopping at stores like Good Will and the Salvation army and sewing things together to make her own unique pieces.

The talks about a possible line started out when Hilfiger met Deschanel at a mutual friend’s house. Zoeey was wearing a vintage piece that caught the attention of the famous designer and the rest is history.

“They are Sixties-inspired short dresses,” Hilfiger noted. “There is a lot of red, white and blue, but done in a Zooey way with interesting detail and flirty fabrics. They are very Jean Shrimpton and Twiggy — really from the Sixties in London. That’s not something we would normally put in our regular sportswear line — maybe we’d be inspired by the Sixties for the runway, but it’s a new way to look at fun, American classics”, Hilfiger told WWD.
