sukiSuki Waterhouse has been all over the beauty media because she recently told Us Weekly that she likes to give her fine, limp hair volume with a DIY trick: rinsing with Coca-Cola. Her hair always looks amazing when it’s beachy and tousled so we’re guessing this DIY trick may be worth a shot. After all, consuming soda isn’t the healthiest thing so maybe using it to style hair is better? Maybe.

If you want to try this DIY out, you need the obvious—Coca-Cola. Depending on your hair length, you may need more than one can but if it’s shoulder length, you’ll be fine with one. Soda can be extremely sticky due to the sugar (which is what we’re guessing makes the hair textured) so be sure to wear a shirt you don’t care for or at least a towel around your neck. Do your makeup afterwards because it’ll most likely get on your face.

We’ve given this one a shot in the past (with beer, too!) and it will work to an extent. Sugar means sticky and sticky, when dry, means texture so it’s bound to help a little. It’s worth giving it a shot just to see what all the rave is about but remember that soda is pretty strong and can clean metals—which your hair is not. We say take a swim in the beach or use sea salt spray (you can make your own here) for a more natural approach to your beachy hair styling.
