Did you know that the 36th America’s Cup is being sponsored by Prada? I sure didn’t. Honestly, I didn’t even know what America’s Cup was until like, two years ago. It’s a sailing competition. I only learned that after reading about it on a can of fancy ginger beer.

Anyway, Prada’s CEO, Patrizio Bertelli, wants to open his brand up to as wide an audience as possible. Which means sailing, I guess. Well, maybe I’m just a random dork, so that’s why I’m out of the loop on these sorts of things, but Prada is a pretty upscale import brand. If you’re gonna associate a fancy brand with any kind of sporting event, let it be sailing, I suppose. Though, then again, I don’t think I’d expect someone to wear Prada styles in the midst of a sailing competition. I don’t think that stuff is waterproof.
