Katie Couric in an interview with jewelry designer, Jennifer Fisher, they talk about Fisher’s success as an entrepreneur and her inspiration for her designs.

Fisher’s jewelry line started with a single charm called “Shane” and Jennifer Fisher jewelry has only grown since. She wanted to create a necklace with a dog-tag style that would cover a scar on her chest and commemorate the miracle birth of her first child named “Shane.”

At the time she first wore the necklace she was a stylist on-set during a photo shoot when everyone wanted one or to get one for their significant other. Fisher made one for Uma Therman that she wore during a photo shoot for Glamour that made the cover of the magazine issue, creating the clientele and future for Jennifer Fisher Jewelry.

Her initial designs were simple name plate but have evolved to many charms due to the numerous requests with a collection of over 400 charms. If you think she’s stopped here, you’re dead wrong.

She is now known for her hoop earrings with many celebrities collecting every pair possible, and only made Fisher’s jewelry line more popular. Now Fisher offers every style, variation, and color hoop any girl’s heart would desire.

Though she may be a new name in the jewelry game Fisher has had the entrepreneurial personality since she was a kid, with her first official jewelry line being earrings made from buttons. She also gives some of the best advise on starting your own business including: use your own money, don’t work with partners, don’t be afraid of rejection, and listen to your gut.

She says the best piece of business advice she can give is to learn from your mistakes to obtain different results for the next attempt. For more of Jennifer Fisher’s success story and to see some of her designs, check out the video above.
