Much like you, your perfect shade is unique. Ever wonder how they produce such bold and beautiful shades for the perfect pop? Refinery29 shows us just how lipstick is made…and it’s pretty cool! They break it down in this, “how it’s made” video, and lipsticks are made using a secret combination of solvents and pigments (they can’t go giving away all the secrets)!
Thousands of pigments can be used to make lipsticks, and it’s finding that perfect blend that creates the perfect shade. After the ‘secret ingredients’ are added, wax is also added to the mix for a little bit more density.
The lipstick is then cooled and molded using applicators, and is never touched throughout the process. Then, of course, you get to apply to perfect shade to your lips to tie your whole look together.
