There are literally hundreds of different incarnations of pink, from bubblegum to neon, and we love them all.  Along with being the quintessential girl color, this season pink is landing on the lips of some of our favorite celebrity Chicistas. Ladies like Jessica Alba, Emma Stone, Emma Watson and the whole Kardashian clan have been loving the pink lip look for both spring and summer. While the matte look is very in this season we’ve seen plenty of ladies sporting shiny wet gloss pink lips as well. Though there are an array of shades of pink you can choose from we noticed two basic approaches to the pink pout trend:

Petal Pink Lips
Softer tones like blush, peony, cotton candy and pastel pink make for a subtle and sweet version of this trend.  When wearing pale pink lipstick be sure not to go for a shade of lipstick that’s to light or frosty, this could washout the look of your makeup and make you look pasty.

Instead go for a pale pink lipstick with a hint of shiny so it catches the light, giving your lips that healthy glow. In terms of the rest of your makeup we suggest either opting for a fresh faced look or going for subtle light eye shadow hues like lavender or peach.

Bright Bold Pink Lips
Hot pink, fuchsia and watermelon are all bright shades of pink that may sounds a bit risky to try but actually end up looking great when worn properly. If you want to opt for a bright bold shade of pink lipstick then go with a matte color, not only will you have to worry less about smudging, but matte hues tend to make the lips look fuller and touchably soft (yet another added bonus).

If you want to go for a punkish in pink look try pairing your bold pink lips with sexy sultry smoky eye makeup. Make sure to go easy on the blush and the bronzer, your  pink lips are the centerpiece with this look, so you don’t want any other colors competing for attention.

We hope you give this trend a try this season ladies, because what’s not to love about a feminine and sweet pink pout!
