An old office classic for the ladies is now a big trend for this season. If you work in an office, you’ve probably been trending for quite some time now (such a fashion hipster). But if you don’t, it’s time to get a skirt suit. Although it may seem a bit boring, there are lots of fun patterns and colors that you can wear so don’t shoot it down right away. Many runways for the Spring/Summer 2013 seasons included this conservative ensemble in their collections bringing back that perfect ladylike look that’s so feminine.

Some of the famous design houses that had the skirt suits in their runways are: Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, and Giambattista Valli. From tweeds, to solids, and metallic fabric, you’ve got much to choose from. A few fashion forward celebrities have been seen wearing this trend and include: Stella McCartney, Alexa Chung, and Kate Middleton. If you think this conservative trend is something you’d like to try out, keep reading for more.

Try the Look.

As the trend would suggest, the skirt suit should be worn mostly for formal events or formal settings. Because the trend already has a top and bottom part, we’ll help with the accessorizing and hair and makeup. Accessories should be kept to a minimum and should be classic, just like the look so choose a statement piece whether it’s a long, thin pair of earrings or a pearl necklace. If you’re not much of a jewelry person, you’re in luck. While some models on the runways had a statement piece of jewelry, others had either a natural face with bold brows or a red pout with nothing else except flawless skin and curled lashes.

For shoes, pointed pumps are the way to go. It’s a classic pairing and the runways made it clear to not mess this combo. And lastly for hair, we recommend sticking with sleek hair whether you have it down (straitened, of course) or in a perfect bun.
