In terms of statement making fashion stripes are a classic go-to option this season.  The runways and red carpets of this season have been tinged with totally gorgeous statement stripes, like the black and white monochrome vertical striped Chanel jumpsuit seen on the figure of style divas like pop star Miley Cyrus and model/actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Another star who flaunted her famous physique in bold black and white horizontal statement stripes recently is Beyoncé, who looked stunning as she attend Kayne West’s b-day bash in a matching striped pencil skirt and sleeved crop top.  Beyoncé’s outfit just goes to show that even ladies with full curvaceous hips can rock chic eye-catching stripes.

At the spring/summer runway show of Marc Jacobs we saw stripes galore; among our favorite looks was a stunning mod inspired shift dress with red and white vertical stripes.  Paul Smith took a totally different, modern and refreshing approach to the statement stripes trend for spring/summer, showing garments like maxi dresses which featured an artistic blend of color blocking and multi-thickness “v” shaped stripes.

Try The Trend

If you want to work this look into your wardrobe (and we highly recommend that you do), then we think the best way to start is with single striped pieces that play will with others. For example the ultra-chic Zara striped blazer looks great with a youthful casual designer t-shirt as well as a classic little black dress.

A full striped skirt would be another fantastic way to go, you could pair it with an adorable pair of bow pumps or add a little contrast with a pair of studded ankle boots.   Also keep in mind that striped accessories like box clutches and bangles are a great way to try out this trend in micro version.
