The designer label known for creating the design of every decade as outdone itself with its latest handbag, the Toupie, and we couldn’t help but notices that… it kinda looks like a UFO.
Crafted by Louis Vuitton Creative Director Nicolas Ghesquière the extraterrestrial accessory was his re-imagination of a classic minaudiére with a rounded frame and pointed top and bottom. The bag that appears defy gravity has become a favorite of celebrities, including Jaden Smith who’s was spotted toting it to the designers Fall 2019 show creating the ultimate unisex accessory.
Much like its predecessor the Stephen Sprouse tote or cherry printed Speedy bag, the Toupie has become a coveted street style accessory. According to InStyle, the bag with a $1,950 retail price point is being sold on eBay for almost double the price. Making the Toupie a must for LV fanatics and handbag collectors.
As far as the UFO shape goes, if there’s anything that the industry loves at the moment its unconventional accessories. Something about the handbag’s push on the traditional norms of a purse silhouette couldn’t be more 2019 or should I say 2119.
