Spring is finally here and with it comes along the eagerness to finally wear the trends we saw on the Spring 2014 runways. The biggest beauty trend for this season is undoubtedly the orange lip. We saw this trend on so many runways, most notable at the Rag & Bone show but could also be seen at DKYNY, Prabal Gurung, and Creatures of The Wind. Orange is the new red this season so wear this trend the right way by wearing the right shade for you.

orangelip

Pale skin with pink undertones. True orange will suit this skintone best as it warms up the cool undertoned skin. Dab a bit of the same lip color on the cheeks to appear more lively as orange, just like red, can make a pale face looked drained of color. Try NARS’ “Timanfaya” pencil, $25.

Pale/light skin with yellow undertones. Bright orange compliments this skintone because yellow undertones tend to look dull and the the bright orange color will add color and light to the skin. Try Lancome’s Rounge in Love Lipstick in “Madame Tulipe”, $28.50.

Golden skin. Neon orange or bright orange look great on golden skintones as the contrast is more noticable. Golden skins already have warm undertones so neon makes for a brighter complexion. Try Maybelline’s Color Sensational Vivids Lipstick in “Electric Orange”, $8.

Dark skin. To warm up dark skin an orange color with strong hints of red is needed. Although orange is not a natural lip color, red is so finding an orangey-red will look more natural. Try Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Color in Maya, $27.
