Our fashion stylist Jen Clyde talked about accessorizing for your body type.

For petite women, wear longer necklaces and chains to elongate your body.  Avoid short, chunky accessories around your neck which might make you look shorter.  Your purse should be medium size.  Also, if you don’t wear bracelets or items on your arms, they will appear longer and leaner.

For women who may not have as much “on top”, you want to wear a heavier necklace or more layering pieces to help bulk out that area. Longer or shorter jewelry adds different lengths to create focal points. Also, big round earrings will give you the appearance of volume on top.

For curvy girls, be careful of the belt you choose. If you go too small, than you look bigger.  But,if you go too wide, then you appear to have no waist. Also, smaller necklaces work better on chestier women. You don’t want to go too bulky on the neck, crowding that area.

In general, use accessories to bring attention to your best points and minimize your worst points.

You can bring an older outfit up-to-date and make it last another season with this season’s accessories.

Accessories can make you look and feel younger — regularly updating your accessories is a great way to stay contemporary without having to spend a fortune.

Get the “look” you want — such as chic, elegant, sophisticated, wealthy, business, casual, fun, artistic and so on with accessories.

Change the look of an outfit — from casual to formal and vice versa, by changing the accessories you wear. For example, change your shoes, handbag and jewelry (and maybe your top too) to go from work to an evening event.

So have fun this summer with trying to reinvent yourself through the art of accessorizing.
