The show will go on for New York Fashion Week
The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has postponed nearly all fashion events for the rest of 2020 but New York Fashion Week (NYFW) is going on in September. Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the return of NYFW with safety precautions to protect attendees from COVID-19.
2020 NYFW will feature more virtual events with limited audiences to be capped at 50 people for outside events and no spectators for indoor events. A majority of events for NYFW will be reduced to 50 percent capacity amongst other health precautions.
NYFW will take place from September 13 to 17 with in-person and live events that will be live-streamed online along with exclusive designer-related content. This year will offer fashionistas an exclusive experience with everyone involved in a runway show including production teams, designers, photographers, models, hair artists, makeup artists, and stylists.
New York has relied on NYFW as a major revenue source generating more than $500 million in tourist spending and $900 million each year according to prior reports. NYFW will also serve a major event to mark the gradual reopening of public spaces after businesses were forced to close due to COVID-19.
New York City is also getting ready for the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards that will take place in several venues around the city. The MTV VMAs is traditionally hosted in a theatre setting but will be celebrating all the boroughs of New York.
