Spring 2021 backyard runway show

Christian Siriano might have shifted production to help manufacture much-needed medical supplies but this didn’t stop the designer from creating a Spring 2021 collection for New York Fashion Week. A majority of designers hosted a digital event with no audience but Siriano hosted an intimate event in his spacious Connecticut backyard.

Siriano hosted the backyard runway show with a small audience and everyone in attendance adhere to COVID-19 social distancing recommendations with spaced seating. Celebrity guests were in attendance including Billy Porter and Coco Rocha.

Coco Rocha walked the runway in head-to-toe red in a floor-length gown and decided to take a dip in the pool. Rocha posted on Instagram that this show would be her only one of the season due to limited runway shows she wanted to do something more daring and Siriano said the pool was warm.

Rocha’s runway dip went according to plan until she was submerged in the water with a face mask on and the weight of the wet material of the gown was too heavy so she needed help. She was unharmed despite things not going as planned and made quite the statement.

Staying true to the brand, the collection featured matching face masks to accompany the spring styles. Another standout style in the collection was a black gown featuring in white print “VOTE” to motivate people to make a voting plan for the upcoming presidential election.
