These Pieces Of Jewelry Are More Expensive Than Most Houses

Jewelry is synonymous with Hip Hop Music. Something about big gold chains and flashy over-the-top necklaces makes an artist look like a hip-hop legend. These rappers’ and musicians’ collections take “bling” to a whole new level.

Some of the first rappers to wear flashy jewelry, which at the time seemed outlandish, was Run DMC in the ’80s. The 1980s were all about gold. Back then, the “crazy” jewelry was thick gold chains with a large pendant. The more gold, the better. This trend continued with names like NAS and Jay-Z into the ’90s. A lot of rappers and artists will credit Jay-Z for bringing platinum into the hip hop community. Platinum became the new gold.

The 2000s brought diamonds into the typical jewelry rotation. Diamonds covered every piece of jewelry, including gold and diamond teeth. Artists like Trick Daddy and Nelly brought “grills” into the scene, and nowadays, even regular people are skipping the grill and gluing jewels directly onto their teeth! Lil Uzi Vert made headlines when he implanted a $24 million pink diamond onto his forehead. Fellow rapper Lil Pump responded with his own forehead implant that he claims cost $28 Million. Diamonds continue today as a status symbol for the wealthy and hip hop elite alike. These days, it is common for artists like 2 Chainz and Lil Pump to spend millions of dollars on jewelry.
