Former Vogue Creative Director Makes Voluminous Bouffant the Style for Spring
Spring style is in the air, but before you break out your open toed mules and pom pom wicker bags, you better learn how to tease hair. According to former Vogue Creative Director Grace Coddington voluminous hair is next big trend.
The fashion icon returned to her roots styling an editorial spring fashion feature in W magazine. However it wasn’t the pleated skirts or the flared pants that caught the eye, it was model Rianne van Rompaey’s dramatic bouffant.
The over the top hair was just one of many trend Coddington is loving for spring. The moody spread was full of mod-inspired clothing including a pleated turquoise Givenchy dress, matching leopard print Burberry ensemble, coral Marc Jacobs coat, and ruffled Michael Kors bikini.
If you’re wanting to take this time capsule style to brand new heights W recommends, “IGK’s Next Level Mist infused with thickening Nordic cotton extract, amps up volume, while keeping lengths soft to the touch.” The spray keeps the bouffant a little more movement than the traditional stiff and crunchy version of the style.
This isn’t the first time in recent memory we’ve gotten a fresh take on the bouffant. Marc Jacobs was the first to re-imagine the bouffant during his Spring 2019 show featuring models with pastel toned on the classic style.
