Adriana Lima walked for the Victoria Secret runway in this year’s Victoria Secret Show. She announced her departure on Thursday via her Instagram account captioning a montage of all her appearance in the annual show curated by the luxury lingerie house with, “Thank you for showing me the world, sharing your secrets, and, most importantly, not just giving me wings but teaching me to fly”.
The Brazilian supermodel who started her career at the young age of 13, became a Victoria Secret Angel at only 18 was a spontaneous ambassador for the fashion house since 1999 without missing any show except in 2009 when she was carrying her second daughter, Valentine.
Clad in a nude sparking top, light blue lingerie, feathered heels and the trademark wings which was with feathers and Swarovski crystals, Adriana wore an emotional and almost teary look giving thank you gestures while an epic montage of all her appearances on the show was being played with the crowd cheering her on.
In November 2017, rumors had been going around about Lima retiring though she said she loved her job and planned to walk in her 20th show. In an interview with People, she talked about the joy that brews within her whenever she has to walk the runway for Victoria Secret’s shows, that the excitement for her was still as fresh as walking on it for the first time.
As some of Victoria’s Secret Stars have gone on to become entrepreneurs trying to put their feet in hosting, owning businesses and saving the world: stars like Tyra Banks, Giselle Bündchen, Miranda Kerr and Heidi Klum. The 37 year-old mother of two has mentioned that she wants to support women and get involved in different projects that aims to support women around the world.
