Bringing luxury and elegance to Givenchy’s ready-to-wear collection

Givenchy is known for its high-class elegant pieces, even for its Fall-Winter 2020 ready-to-wear line, making formal fashion for casual occasions that can also be worn in a formal setting. Needless to say, any outfit from this collection is sure to look super stylish.

The artistic director, Clare Waight Keller, drew inspiration from this collection from French influence including music and film. Keller also drew inspiration from Portuguese artist, Helena Almeida, and Italian Artist, Ketty La Rocca, who both focus on existential photography and performance art.

The focus in all the sources of inspiration is through the assertive visual vitality with the style of the garments. The colors featured in the collection include white, red, and black with prints including checks, dots, and rugby stripes. This collection focuses on creating forms through Keller’s specialty with demonstrative tailoring.

Most of the pieces utilized strong shoulders that would soften into full, feminine sleeves featured on a retro-elegant inspired caped dress, an evening coat, and a double-breasted jacket. The collection offered comfortable formal options, perfect for upscale casual style. The personal favorite from this collection is the burgundy and black color block pieces including a flowing one-shoulder dress and long fur coat.

All the pieces in the collection give the feel of formal dresses including the styles featuring pants. For an added touch of elegance, they accessorized all the looks with long leather opera gloves.
