Couples that rocked the Grammys’ red carpet
One thing the Grammy red carpet guarantees is a lavish display of love – the love of music, love of fabulous and often wacky fashion choices and when it comes to celebrity couples in attendance, plentiful PDAs.
This year was no different, though, not much can top the very expressive (maybe too?) display of affection by Cardi B and Offset that we all witnessed last year.
The enamored rap duo skipped the red carpet this time around, but made a splash inside the auditorium, making their presence well-known. The songstress wore an extravagant, sheer nude Thierry Mugler number, with statement-making floor-length sleeves and glimmering stripes of beaded crystal detailing.
For extra bling, the 27-year-old rapper wore a custom 310-carat diamond necklace by Gismondi 1754, reportedly worth more than $5 million. Her rapper husband sported a black leather ensemble, with golden yellow embroidered patches on his pants and jewelry by Chrome Hearts.
Gwen Stefani and beau Blake Shelton were as lovey-dovey as ever, putting their feelings on full display as well as their impeccable fashion sense, as they walked the red carpet arm in arm. Stefani was picture perfect in an off-white Dolce & Gabbana creation, packed with tiny shells — undoubtedly a non-coincidental choice, alluding to her main man’s (and perhaps her own, sometime in the near future?) last name.
Shelton complimented his lady love in an all-black attire that, well – let’s just say that there aren’t many looks that this charming cowboy could not pull off. Their palpable chemistry could be felt from the stage later on in the evening when they performed their duet “Nobody But You,” proving that they truly only have eyes for each other.
When it comes to a smoldering couple goals, we say James Blake and Jameela Jamil take the cake. Their synchronized styling only added to their appeal, the actress wearing a blue and black Georges Chakra dress with metallic shingles and a sheer accent at the skirt, while Blake, a Grammy nominee, wore a complementing frock by Yohji Yamamoto.
Naturally, the Jonas Brothers were accompanied by their respective leading ladies and, each of the Jonas Couples had a certain panache. We give them props on keeping things very separate when it comes to their styling and letting their better halves (the Jonas Brides, natch) take the broader portion of the spotlight, even though this night really should’ve been more about them, being musicians and all.
Case in point: Priyanka Chopra in the incredibly plunging Ralph & Russo gown that literally took all the attention off of hubby Nick Jonas, who couldn’t quite compete, albeit sporting a gold suit by Zegna.
