The ombre color trend has gotten quite a bit of attention this year, making a splash in the fashion world on the runway, red carpet and the streets. Along with being a chic way to color your hair and nails, the ombre color trend looks amazing on prom dresses, both full length and cocktail. Just in case you haven’t been keeping up on the latest trends, ombre, is just a fancy word for a gradient hue, basically a color which transitions from one tone to another, typically from dark to light. Ombre prom dresses are fabulously flattering, come in every color combo under the rainbow and are super easy to accessorize.

One of our favorite ombre prom dress looks is the sophisticated and chic black-to-white ombre style. We love how a black and white ombre dress features a classic color combo in a fresh and modern way. If your prom dress tastes are a bit more bold than classic black and white consider opting for a colored ombre dress, you can find one with deep shades of your favorite hue for a statement making dramatic look, or opt for a dress that has lighter shades,  for a softer more ethereal style.

Accessorizing an Ombre Prom Dress
Ombre dresses are super easy to accessorize, any of the following items would look fantastic with an ombre prom dress:

  • A clutch in the same hue as the darkest shade on your dress, try opting for one with sequins for an extra hint of shimmer
  • If you don’t like the idea of colored accessories, than opting for classic silver earrings, bracelets or necklaces is the way to go
  • If your ombre dress also has a pattern in it, then we suggest keeping your accessories minimal and avoiding statement necklaces or earrings.
