From a small skate shop to a high-end fashion brand

Supreme has exploded in popularity in the fashion world. From big-name celebrities to supermodels, Supreme is showing up everywhere in a big way. But what you may not know, is where this billion-dollar streetwear company got its start.

Supreme was founded in downtown Manhattan in a small New York office space by James Jebbia. Jebbia opened up his small skate shop in 1994 with the simple goal of designing and selling clothing for skaters. Today, Supreme is worldwide with twelve stores in Los Angeles, Paris, London, Tokyo and throughout Japan.

The key to their sales success in the fashion industry is simple; creating exclusivity in their brand by limiting the quantities in production. The result, the price per each item increases only further boosting sales. Additionally, limited-run quantities ensure that merchandise is always sold out, leaving people throwing money around to get the latest release.

Supreme frequently collaborates with big names like Nike, North Face, Levi’s and even Playboy. Most recently, the skate brand has collaborated with luxury fashion icon Louis Vuitton in releasing everything from shoes and belts, to hoodies and handbags.
