Calvin Klein Ends Ready To Wear Line
The rumors were true. On Wednesday Calvin Klein shocked the fashion world with a statement that they will be ending their namesake seasonal ready-to-wear collections and runway shows.
Gossip about that the brand was in turmoil starting swirling in December when seasoned brand Creative Director Raf Simmons was dismissed overnight. Simmons was brought on to oversee Calvin Klein’s high-end spin off line, 205W39NYC which also ceased production following his departure from the brand.
Initially Simmons’ departure was set to be a fresh restart for the 205W39NYC brand. The luxury line was set to have a relaunch with a new name and different design aesthetic. However, it looks as if Calvin Klein has turned their focus to the basic retail shelves, jeans, and underwear campaigns that turned them into a household name.
Calvin Klein confirmed to fashion insider site, WWD, that they are officially eliminating 100 positions, and shutting down their entire office in Milan. The brand has also announced in January that it will be closing its flagship store located on Madison Ave. will be closing its doors.
WWD also reports that the company is still actively looking for a new Creative Director that will oversee all fashion categories for the brand.
