Meet Loey Lane

Thanks to famous faces like Ashley Graham, plus-size models are finally having their moment to shine among a sea of size zeros.

Growing up, now-famous vlogger Loey Lane always envied Disney princesses, and she felt destroyed when classmates called her Ursula instead of one of the famous, stereotypically beautiful princesses. In March, Loey decided to create a video showing herself dressed as a take on Ariel from the Disney classic “The Little Mermaid.”

After posting the video, Loey took it upon herself to bring up the issue some children face growing up, having no traditional role models who look like them to look up to or aspire to be like. She called out Disney to create a plus-size Princess, stating, “We can’t all look exactly the same and that’s a huge reason why I think it’s so important for there to be more diversity in everything that young girls and boys consume.”

After launching her video, she was called on by Cosmopolitan to meet with them and discuss how she is challenging Disney to create more approachable and relatable role models, showing just how many people out there are on her side.
