In The First Year Met Gala Tickets Only Cost $50
Since 1948, the Met Gala, held as an annual fundraising gala to benefit the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City, hosting celebrities in gorgeous costumes that stick to the evening’s theme.
While the event began through the planning of Vogue’s former editor-in-chief, Diana Vreeland, it has since been taken over by the current editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour. The Met Gala originally began with tickets available at the for an affordable $50, but that price has steadily increased over the years.
Celebrities and others on the guest list are now able to purchase their individual tickets at the steep price of $35,000. And while this price seems extremely high, this highly anticipated evening is considered fashion’s biggest night out, even bigger than fashion week.
It serves as the opening night for the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit. This year’s event had many notable attendees in gorgeous ensembles.
Some of the popular celebrities who attended (and stood out) include Lady Gaga, Zendaya, Harry Styles, Katy Perry, Emma Stone, and more. Some of the designer’s pieces that we saw include Tommy Hilfiger, Versace, Moschino, and Louis Vuitton.
