Express your creativity with the #McQueenCreators Challenge

The British fashion house, Alexander McQueen, wants to spark creativity while people are stuck at home practicing “social distancing” in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Alexander McQueen launched the #McQueenCreators challenge, giving a new fashion and design challenges over the next several weeks.

Participants of the challenge are encouraged to share their creative work with the hashtag #McQueenCreators for the chance to get featured on their social media pages. The first #McQueenCreators challenge offered participants the chance to sketch (and possibly re-create) the rose dress featured in the Autumn/Winter 2019 collection.

The next challenge was to create your own 3D flower from chosen materials at home, inspired by the brand’s love for floral embellishments. This might seem like a simple challenge but this gives participants the chance to get creative with supplies.

The next #McQueenCreators challenge is to create your own print at home inspired by prints feature in McQueen’s collection. You can also find a tutorial video for making a screen print and other methods of creating print fabric in the video below.

The latest #McQueenCreators challenge was posted this morning for participants to draw silhouettes from the SS20 womenswear and AW20 menswear McQueen collection. They encourage participants to use materials including pencil, charcoal, paints, and pastels of any kind.

For additional inspiration, you can listen to the #McQueenMusic playlist available on Spotify. Check out the work of the other participants on the Alexander McQueen Twitter and Instagram for inspiration.
