Prada will host digital fashion show for Spring 2021

The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has changed the fashion industry with a majority of fashion houses looking to an alternative for digital events including Prada. The Italian fashion house is planning on streaming its Spring 2021 runway event on Sept. 24.

Prada will be joining other brands for Milan Fashion Week and will be streamed on all Prada social media platforms as well as Prada.com on Sept. 24 at 2 p.m. CET. Prada is also offering private appointments to view the collection on Sept. 25 and 26.

Though live fashion events will have limited to no audience following health recommendations, there will be multiple viewing events around the world. The global activations for this event provided viewing kits delivered for at-home digital screenings as well as virtual viewing events in cities including Los Angeles, New York, Tokyo, Paris, Hong Kong, London, Seoul, Berlin, Istanbul, Dubai, and Moscow.

Prada will be hosting a special event in Shanghai at the Rong Zhai residence with screenings in different rooms of the villa, concluding the event with a small reception. Prada worked restoring the heritage architecture of the 1918 Rong Zhai mansion into a flexible venue for cultural activities that opened in 2017.

The upcoming collection was designed by Miuccia Prada and the brand’s co-creative director Raf Simons for a partnership of equal responsibilities for decision making and creative input. Miuccia Prada is working with five photographers and artists to help her display the men’s spring and women’s pre-spring 2021 collection for a presentation called “Prada Multiple Views SS21.”

Prada isn’t the only fashion house to consider a digital format for Milan Fashion Week, Emporio Armani will be presenting a streaming option for its runway presentation. The Emporio Armani will be presented on Sept. 24 with models consisting of young dancers, actors, and singers.

Giorgio Armani will be making history with its spring show that will be on broadcast TV for the first time on Sept. 26 that will also be available on the Armani website and social media. Some designers are opting for in-person events including Valentino, Salvatore Ferragamo, Fendi, and Max Mara.
