Rodarte’s first year back at NYFW is nothing but short of successful
Rodarte romances on the New York Fashion Week runway in Midtown Manhattan. The unique collection was on display at an intimate runway show in the candlelit St. Bartholomew’s church, making their return to NYFW in style.
Rodarte wasn’t short on their trademark lace looks and floral fashions. Though the show is for Fall 2020 it combines the floral and lace of Spring with the gothic gown style for Fall. Some the stylers were edgy for the delicate demeanor of Rodarte including long beaded fringe that mimicked lit cigarettes and sheer Swarovski spiderweb embellishments on the gown.

Rodarte is known for its use of a light color palette but brought darkness to this collection with models donning dark lips and using darker colors. The design duo, Kate and Laura Mulleavy, were inspired by the 1992 Cappola film “Dracula” to create pieces that celebrate storytelling through fashion while making them wearable.
Critics often affiliate Rodate with delicate couture designs but are proving that they are more than that adding some sexy, edgy pieces for this collection. Though they are exploring new styles, the Mulleavy sisters stay true to their roots of creating delicate feminine roots.

Bella Hadid walked the runway in a 50s-inspired red and white dress with a feminine touch of a rose hairpiece with a small white veil. New York is welcoming Rodarte back with open arms and will be one of the top talked-about shows from New York Fashion Week.
