The most wonderful time of the year, awards season

With the beginning of the new year, the Golden Globes mark the beginning of awards season and feature the brightest stars on their red carpet. We recap the best looks of the night including some fashion faux pas.

The star from the popular Amazon Prime Original series “Fleabag,” Pheobe Waller-Bridge, walked the carpet in a modern tailored tweed suit by Ralph & Russo, with black satin and lace trim. For an even more edgy and modern take on this look, Waller-Bridge opted to go without a shirt under the blazer and completed the look with a pair of black satin wedge-toe heels.

Nicole Kidman stunned on the red carpet wearing her signature starlet color, red. Kidman walked the red carpet in a strapless tailored dress featuring a split up her right leg that was custom created by the Versace Atelier. She completed the look with gold jewelry and strappy red heels.

Billy Porter has made a name for himself for his beautiful voice and amazing acting skills, but he was a vision of an angel at the Golden Globes. Porter was a vision in a custom all-white satin formal suit by Alex Vinash featuring a train of flowing feathers with white boots featuring Swarovski crystals.

The “Mary Queen of Scots” actress Saoirse Ronan rocked the red carpet with a silver chainlink dress by Celine that was form-fitting and very flattering to say the least. Ronan completed the look with simple pieces of jewelry and silver strappy heels.

Margot Robbie is such a natural beauty she can wear something considered as chic Chanel casual to the Golden Globes. Robbie wore an a-line strapless floral print sequin and stone top with a long high-waisted white skirt with minimal jewelry for a truly chic casual look.

“The Politician” star and producer, Gwenyth Paltrow, definitely caught everyone’s eye on the red carpet. With a nude sheer tulle floor-length Fendi dress with tulle ruffles featuring a loose-fitting form that was so sheer, you could see her matching intimate set that matched the dress. Paltrow was showing off her figure and has definitely been spending time in the gym.

Comedy actress Awkwafina walked the red carpet in a classic outfit by Dior with a unique white collar shirt, black pointed shoulder blazer, and a long black skirt. Her look was sophisticated and refined but stands out among the sea of gowns.

Jennifer Lopez definitely caught some looks in her Valentino gown in the wrong way. The white floor-length ball gown was adorned with two frumpy-looking bows in gold and green. It reminded me of a couture Christmas picture photo gone wrong, not to mention J. Lo is hiding all her curves when she is nominated for her risque movie “Hustlers.”

Celebrating her breakout lead role in “Booksmart” Beanie Feldstein walked the red carpet in a deep navy blue Oscar de la Renta gown with floral embellishment around the neckline and material that imitate the look of long slim tassels.

Hands down the best dressed of the night in my book was Joey King in her work of art by Iris Van Harpen. The dress is a combination of geometry and architecture through multiple layers of interwoven fabric giving the illusion that the dress shifts in form for a cool effect to the eye. The dress was so stunning King opted to go for small diamond earrings and simple white wedge toe heels with crystals on the strap.
