Last night at the Met Gala (AKA the Fashion Oscars), the evenings theme was Punk and many celebrities took that to heart embracing dramatic punk-meets-glam gowns and hairstyles. As celebrity fashion icons flooded the red carpet we saw some of the most avant-garde creations we have seen all season long. There were bevies of black cut out dresses, sheer lace and mesh accented gowns and even a few notable pant suits, case in point Kristen Stewart.  A few ladies like, Nicole Richie, Madonna and Anna Hathaway took this opportunity to debut new dye jobs and we have to say Anne Hathway’s punkish platinum blond do really suits her. As with any red carpet there were the best dressed celebrities and below you’ll find our top three picks, these gals gowns embraced the evenings punk theme in unique and chic ways.

Blake Lively
The newly married star is the face of the Gucci Premiere womens perfume so it’s no wonder she choose to wear a stunning Gucci Premiere sea form green dress. The gown featured a full black feather and organza skirt, which cascaded down into a delicately tiered train. Blake accessorized her look with jaw-dropping Lorraine Schwartz statement earrings, which were long enough to reach her collar bone.

Cara Delevingne
Cara took the punk theme to heart and rocked a super chic black Burberry dress complete with a bold gold studded bodice and sleeves.  The gown also featured a nearly navel length deep V-neckline, which perfectly showcased Cara’s edgy layered necklaces. She finished off her look by styling her tresses in a deep side part and opted for intense smoky eye make-up.

Rooney Mara
Rooney looked white hot in a low cut, zipper and sheer lace accented Givenchy gown. We loved how the sophisticated lace and the edgy zippers made for the perfect combination of ladylike elegance and punk glam. While the dress from afar almost looks bridal, the closer you look at it the more you see the punk inspired elements and amazing tailoring that went into this gown.
