Time to brighten those eyes up, ladies! This summer’s hottest makeup trend will make you feel like an oceanic goddess . The aqua eyeliner was one of the most seen makeup trends on many of our favorite runways so we knew that it was going to be big this season. The best part about this trend is that it’s so simple to do even though it may be a bit intimidating to use because it’s such an eccentric color. Michael Kors was one of the main design houses to make this trend popular as he had most of his models sporting the eyeliner right above the eye rim. Other designers that also used the aqua liner include: Marrimekko, Peter Som, and Stella McCartney.

But what would a trend be without super famous celebrities wearing it? We’re glad to report that we’ve seen many! Some of the beautiful ladies are Demi Lovato, Hillary Swank, Selena Gomez, and, interestingly enough, the first Lady of the United States Michelle Obama. Now do you believe us when we say this trend is big? We thought so. This is such a fun makeup trend to try and it’s just in time for the summer months. Keep reading for more.

Try the Trend
As we mentioned before, this trend is super easy to try since you only need a few basic products and practically no tools. Here’s a step by step for the perfect aqua eyeliner look:

Step 1. On a clean, moisturized face, apply your favorite matte or satin foundation. Your eyeliner should be the center of attention so dewy skin would be overdoing it. Conceal as needed.

Step 2. Brush your brows out and fill any empty spaces with your favorite eyebrow powder or pencil. Light strokes will look the most natural so no heavy-handedness.

Step 3. Apply your favorite pearly, nude eye shadow all over the lid. This will make your whole eyelid look even and cleaner when you apply the eyeliner.

Step 4.  Line your top eye rim with a black liner, preferably cat eye. After you’ve finished this, apply the aqua liner directly above the black eyeliner.

Step 5. Highlight lightly with pearly powder on your cheekbones, the inner corner of your eye, brow bones, nose bridge, and cupids bow.

Step 6. Lastly, take your favorite pastel pink lipstick and apply a thin layer on your lips. You can also take that same lipstick and warm it between your fingers and apply it on your cheeks as blush. Tap lightly for a natural look.
