Glittering, gleaming jewel tones are a fall fashion staple, lux emerald green (Pantone’s 2013 color of the year BTW), amethyst purple, ruby red, topaz yellow, sapphire blue, tourmaline green, and turquoise blue are all members of this royally chic color family. The best thing about jewel tones is that they’re notorious for looking beautiful on every skin tone, making them universally wearable and classically chic. For fall 2013 designers were all about this classic color scheme, Narciso Rodriguez, Marchesa, Oscar de la Renta, Vera Wang and Monique Lhuillier all showed jewel tone saturated outer and formal wear at their runway shows.

But wait, clothing isn’t the only aspect of fashion getting in on the jewel toned madness this season, believe it or not multi-colored jewel tone manicures are super-hot as well. Makeup is also getting in on this chic trend, with fun jewel toned mascara and eyeshadow, popping up on celebrities, fashion bloggers and everyday Chicistas. Below checkout our three favorite ways to wear brilliant and beautiful jewel tone hues this fall.

Jewel Toned Makeup
Jewel tone mascara is the way to go in order to add this trend into your makeup routine. Look for tart teals, pretty plums and royal blues in noted mascara brands like the classic Great Lash and, one of our favorites, Urban Outfitters.  When it comes to wearing such a bold color on your lashes it’s important is give it a similarly hued backdrop, so swipe a chubby eye crayon over your lower eye lid in the same hue as your mascara. Keep the rest of your look fresh faced, with the exception of a soft and feminine petal pink pout.

Jewel Toned Manicure
We are loving jewel toned nails this season and so are celebrities like Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs. Our favorite way to rock this look this season is with a blend jewel tones, for example you can opt to pair teal, ruby and sapphire together for a manicure that is interesting, unique and absolutely perfect for fall. To accent your jewel toned mani, try throwing on a jewel toned statement ring…or two.

Jewel Toned Fashion
This fall we’ve noticed that jewel tones are being paired with fun fall textures like cushy velvet, shimmering metallic and edgy leather. We suggest investing in some jewel toned outerwear this season that incorporates two textures. For example a ruby blazer with leather elbow patches is the perfect accent to an outfit for class, work or even over a little black dress. If you want to add a bit of a punk flair to your look opt for a jewel toned leather jacket, it’s the perfect way to add jewel tones to your look in an edgy and modern way.
