Headbands Are Back And Chunkier Than Ever
If we learned anything from Blair Waldorf, there is power in the right headband.
Much like the scrunchie, headbands are back, and they are chunkier than ever. As covered WWD, headbands have moved past the Upper East side and dominated the street style at fashion weeks around the globe. They were even more common to sight then the statement hair clips which have been blowing up my ‘gram feed.
The favorite among fashionistas was Prada’s satin headband, that initially debuted the house’s Spring 2019 show. Instead of just a simpler layered on piece, the next generation of headbands are worn more as a statement accessory. (Hair always worn down or in low shoulder skimming pony btw).
Embellished metal headbands are also having a moment. Lest we never forget Kaia Gerber’s trip down the runway in Givenchy Haute Couture show. The look was the epitome of how to style headband, as Gerber’s glittering silver and pearl adorned head piece elevates her look to new ethereal and angelic feels.
Statement headbands are just one of the many over-sized hair accessory trends that are in for the next year. Dramatic hair clips and larger than life fabric barrettes round out this unconventional street wear trend.
