Celebrating 75 years of Balmain

Balmain’s creative director, Olivier Rousteing, wants to celebrate summer fashion on the Seine for the upcoming Paris Fashion Week. The highly-anticipated Balmain runway show will take place on a barge in the Seine on July 5.

Rousteing being a French social butterfly has not taken well to quarantine due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and is looking forward to this runway show. Balmain is working hard to ensure that this runway show is safe for the participants and guests.

The Balmain river cruise will feature performers and live models. Though it will be an event closed to the public, people will be able to see the show from the banks of the river for a truly unique fashion experience.

This river cruise concept culminates Balmain’s 75th anniversary and will feature archive pieces created by the founder Pierre Balmain. The runway show will also celebrate previous creative directors including Oscar de la Renta and Erik Mortensen along with some new styles by Rousteing for menswear and womenswear.

Being the 75th anniversary, this is going to be one of Balmain’s biggest runway productions to date which was not too easy given the circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic. Andrew Madadski conceptualized the event collaborating with Balmain that will be choreographed by Jean-Charles Jousni including a live performance the French singer-songwriter, Yseult.
